I'll be in Paris next week! We have 9:00am tickets for the Louvre and I'm still deciding which entrance to use. I was reading about the Porte des Lions gate and how it's the most efficient way of getting to the Mona Lisa early. Does anyone have any recent experience with this entrance? I know it's closed on Fridays, but is it reliably open on time on the other days? I found a few reddit threads but I tend to trust you fine folks a little more!

I checked the entrances for the Louvre. The Porte de Lions is not usually open. The Porte (Passage) de Richilieu is open only for groups and annual pass holders. That leaves you with the Pyramid entrance and the Carrousel entrances. I often read that the lines at the Carrousel entrance are usually shorter.
