Louvre lines and museum pass

Ok
I am buying the museum pass
We will be going to louvre probably in the afternoon what’s the ideal time and wait time
We will use the carousel entrance
We will be in Paris 6 days and I hope to pick up pass at Picasso-Paris museum in the afternoon or hotel deville

Any tips or suggestions
I would hate to be in an hours long line to get in to louvre
Thanks

Greg, we were just there today using the museum pass to get in.

One thing - today the only entrance that accepted the museum pass was outside, in front of the pyramid. We tried to go into the Carousel entrance but they sent us outside instead.

I was there Wednesday, April 10. I tried to get there at opening time and although I wanted to enter through the Carousel entrance, somehow I missed it and found my way to the Pyramid entrance. The security line for the Museum Pass holders was not too bad. I headed straight to the Mona Lisa. The viewing area was about a third full. Two hours later as I was leaving the museum, I walked through that same room and it was packed. I had listened to the Rick Steves Louvre app before my trip, and that helped me know what pieces I wanted to see for sure. I am not sure what the lines are for an afternoon entrance.

You don't need a ticket or pass to enter the secure area; you can enter at the Carrousel if you wish -- you just don't get line priority with the museum pass. No point standing in the very long pass line at the Pyramid when often you can just walk in with little wait at other entrances. The only security line that requires a ticket or pass is the designated line at the Pyramid. Once inside the secure area you use the pass to enter at the wings. Lots of people enter the secure area to go to the bookstore, have lunch or whatever. Tickets are only needed when you enter the galleries. If you were send away from the Carrousel entrance it would be because you showed the pass and wanted to bypass the line.

I will have my museum pass. and use the carousel entrance in a normal ticket line and then show the pass for either wing.
