Louvre in July

I've been looking for tickets to the Louvre in July for the past two weeks and the whole month is closed. Are they sold out? I find that weird, especially since I'm not seeing the same for any normal open days in June.

In my experience, all the tour guides in Paris buy up all the tickets and you have to go through them. Examples would be via tour, get a guide, etc. hopefully from Rick Steves organization will be able to give you a more definitive answer.

I'm looking at the website and there are tickets for sale up through July 5th. If I was to guess, you're too early for tickets later in the month; they're not for sale yet. The only dates crossed out in June are dates the museum is closed (Tuesdays) so that's a good indication that the rest of July will open up at some point. You do not have to buy your tickets through a 3rd party: just be patient and check the website regularly.

You’re too early for your date. The tickets are nominative so they won’t be scooped up by a lot of resellers.

I’ll just agree with Kate and Elizabeth. Buy directly from the official Louvre website. The tickets are plentiful but do sell out for some days. Just keep watching the website. Dates will be released in batches.

While you are waiting, have a look at the Louvre website and check the page showing what day certain sections close. If there is a particular piece you want to see make sure that section is open on your target day.

Editing to add a link to which days which galleries are closed:

Everything is open on the weekends except galleries undergoing renovations but sometimes crowds are bigger.

Thank you, all.

I always buy direct, which is one of the reasons I have not, yet, been inside the Notre Dame. I just remember buying tickets the last time more than 90 days out. But my memory isn't as accurate as it used to be.
