Lourdes and Paris France

Hoping to go to Lourdes after my radiation treatments which should be around late Oct or early to mid Nov. Will there be processions still at Lourdes and/or baths at that time? My husband and I hope to do 7 nights... 3 in Lourdes and 4 in Paris. We've never been to either cities. What to do in Paris without tiring myself...enough to see the important places??? We're flying from San Francisco. Any 3-star accommodation recommendations in both cities? Shall we fly directly from SFO to Lourdes, then train or fly to Paris?

Would appreciate your shared experiences....thank you!

No idea about Lourdes, but I would think you could find the info online. You won't likely find a direct flight to Lourdes, but will have to make a connecting flight in Paris. If you think that might be too tiring, spend a night in Paris before carrying on. From Lourdes to Paris the train will likely be faster and less tiring than flying. Finding accommodations should be easy using a booking site like booking.com where you can use filters for your location, price point and needed amenities (elevators!!)

As for what to do in Paris- everyone has their own preferences and priorities. Get a good guidebook and sees what tickles your fancy. You won't run short of things to see and do.

Hi from Wisconsin,

I have been near Lourdes but not into it. This may sound ridiculous, but do you know how far south in France this place is? And remember Lourdes is know for one thing. 3 days without a car to see the stunning foot hills along the Spanish border would be a lot for that city.

Paris. Get a hotel or AIRBNB in central Paris, the Marais is always a good place to begin. And don't be afraid to use taxis. While it has a great subway system, if you will tire easily, take a taxi. Google the Marais, it is a fun area of Paris. Nice cafes, restaurants, a few museums, and shops.

Wayner, I don't mean this as criticism but Lourdes isn't just a tourist site. It is one of the main pilgrimage sites of the Roman Catholic Church. Especially for Catholics who may be ill and seeking intercession, a stay of several days would not be unusual.

From what I've been able to read, it appears that the baths and processions are only from Easter until All Saints Day, so a mid Nov visit would miss these. However the Grotto, Churches and masses, and other ancillary services would still be available to pilgrims visiting off-season.
