Looking for route advice driving from MSM to Le Croix-en-Touraine (east of Tours, nr Blére)

Hi-
In October, we'll be driving from MSM to Le Croix-en-Touraine (east of Tours, across the river from Blére). On the map I see we can split near Fougeres and either go through through Laval and Le Mans or through Rennes and Angers. Any advice on which to choose? Any recommendations of things we should see en route? I'm thinking we'll stop at Villandry Gardens but open to any suggestions. Over the next week we'll be visiting Loches, Amboise, Clos Luce, Blois, Ville Savin, Chenenceau, Chaumont, Chambord and Cheverny (Lots start with Ch, don't they. Anyone know if it's a contraction from Chateau Something or....)

Final question - google maps puts the drive time on the order of 3-3.5 hrs. Is that realistic?
Thanks in advance

I know that the historical city centres of Fougères, Vitré and Laval are certainly worth a visit. Lesser known is that the one of Le Mans is stunning too, of interest can be the Musée des 24 Heures du Mans near the entrance of the famous racetrack. Anyway not a bad route to my opinion.

As the route along Laval has its fair share of two lane roads then 3-3.5 hours driving time is a bit theoritical I guess. Trucks, road works and speed limits can slow down the speed, as to estimate the needed time I would think a more safe 4-4.5 hours, without the stops ofcourse.
