Looking for recommendation

Hubby and I flying into to CDG May 7th around 7pm. And staying 1 night before I pick up a rental car at Orly the next morning to drive and see family in Brittnany. Looking for a recommdation of an area to stay for 1 night. We would like to have dinner outside and easily make our way to Orly in the morning.

I’m definitely open to staying somewhere just outside of Paris and closer to Orly. Any ideas?
Thank you very much!

If you're looking for a place to spend that night in Paris, you might consider a hotel along the route shared by lines 1 and 2 of Le Bus Direct, a shuttle that connects both airports to central Paris. Both lines stop at the Etoile, Trocadero, and a location near the Eiffel Tower (see the maps on the website). There are many hotels in that area, and it's an iconic part of Paris. Lots of sidewalk cafes at Trocadero and elsewhere. You could come in from CDG on line 2 and, next morning, head out to Orly on line 1. The total cost would be less than taxis, and your luggage would be safely stowed under the bus -- unlike the cheaper alternative on RER line C.

Lines 1 and 2 of Le Bus Direct do both stop at Place du Trocadero so a hotel in that area would be a good choice and for a one-night stay Best Western Hotel Au Trocadero on Rue Raymond Poncaire is a good choice. If you want a livelier area, you could take the RER B (not RER C) to St-Michel Notre Dame from CDG and be in the center of Paris and then jump on the train in the morning and take it to the OrlyVal to Orly. In that case, Hotel Europe Saint Severin would be a good choice for a one-night stay. You don't say that you plan to take mass transit and if you do not and plan to take a taxi from CDG and then to Orly, your choices for hotels are just about any hotel in Paris. What is your budget for the room for the night? Finally, and i hesitate to suggest changing your plans after I read a post that complained about such responses, but why are you going all the way to Orly to rent a car to go to Brittany? I get not wanting to drive immediately after landing but why not just pick up the car in Paris or spend the night at CDG and pick it up there? BTW, it will probably be cheaper to pick up a car from an "In city" location in Paris.

Why are you picking up a rental car at Orly the morning after an evening arrival into CDG?

If you stay around Denfert-Rochereau, you can get there direct on the RER B from CDG, then in the morning take the Orlybus from there.

Like Kim, I wonder why you are going 1.5-2 hours out of your way to pick up a car at Orly when you're landing at CDG?

Maybe one night in Paris is better than zero nights in Paris. And people will chide the OP for driving directly after a red-eye transatlantic flight.

My reasoning is that I have 1 night in Paris after flying in from Portugal before I depart, only enough time for a nice dinner. Orly is on the south end and closer to the A10 my driving route. I’ve been to Paris before this just a stop over and I’m not that familiar with the neighborhoods.
Thank for the recommendations, I will look into all. I appreciate all the help I have gotten from this forum.

I get your reasoning about spending the night in Paris. That makes sense to me. Is there a concern about driving in Paris or the type of transmission in the car? I ask because you can drive to Brittany from Paris. Are you planning on taking mass transit to Orly or from CDG? If you are not, I suggest staying over near Canal Saint Martin and eating at La Marine.

Hotel du Midi is across the street from Denfert-Rochereau station. About 200 ft to the Orlybus stop. Couple of sidewalk cafe places around the corner. The ubiquitous "Indiana" and the "Cafe Rendez Vous" across the street.

I agree with taking the Orly Bus Direct to Denfert-Rochereau.
Staying in the Hotel du Midi will be easy enough.

Rather than looking for dinner in a questionable location, I suggest this restaurant:
La Cantine du Troquet, at 89 rue Daguerre.

Do you have to pick your car up at Orly? Are you making stops on the way to Brittany? Personally, I'd stay a night in Paris close to a train station and go straight there in the morning. You can reach Rennes in 1 1/2 to 2 hours from Montparnesse, depending on the train choice, then pick up a rental there. You can always drop it off at Orly on the way back, if it makes more sense for your itinerary, or drop in Rennes and train back to Paris.
