Traveling to Colmar during the Christmas holiday’s and wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations for some of the smaller towns around Colmar that are worth checking out for either shopping, food, or just the beautiful history. We would have a car, so my guess no more then 60-90 min drive one way. Thank you
You don’t need to travel far from Colmar to find cute villages. Check these out:

Riquewihr is probably the most touristy of the lot, but for good reason. Kayersberg, Eguisheim, Ribeauvillé are also worth exploring. All of these are within a 20-minute drive from Colmar. There are other villages further south and north, but you have to make sure not to overstretch yourselves.
Edit: all the places I mention are listed in the great article posted above! Good link.
Ribeauville is a gem.
I can also recommend Eguisheim and Kaysersberg as well as the German town of Staufen. Back in December 2019 we spent 5 nights in Colmar and visited these 3 delightful places as well as Christmas markets in Basel, Switzerland and Freiburg, Germany. Ours was a group of 5 and we had a car.
