Looking for CDG airport hotel the night prior to flight

Just looking for a basic clean quiet hotel (70-120$) with transportation available to the terminal . We arrive from Italy at 6 pm and have a 10 am flight out to the states. Is it crazy to try to get into Paris for an evening / too much hassle? If we can enjoy even something the city has to offer in one night, (view, dinner, eiffel tower) , it might be worth it. :) Ideas are welcome!
Also, Is there a train or easy way to the center of the city from the airport?

Broad idea --no details at this point. Check into an airport area hotel that has shuttle service back and forth & freshen up. Shuttle back to airport and take the RER into the city for dinner and a walk about. Return to airport hotel the same way and be close by in the a.m. TC

In similar situations we have checked into the Novotel which sits on top of the RER into Paris and is connected to the internal shuttle at the airport. YOu don't want to be 'near' the airport; you want to be right at the airport. there is an internal shuttle that circulates among terminals and to the RER station continuously. You need to be at the gate by 7 am; sometimes it actually takes the full 3 hours at CDG.

If you are into your room by 6:30 or 7 then taking the RER into Paris for Dinner would be my choice. We once arrived late and so ate at the airport Hilton where we were staying and it was the worst meal I have ever had in Europe with terrible rude service and was to top it off incredibly expensive. I'd eat at the terminal before I'd eat at the Hilton.

The Ibis is moderately-priced and is located a few steps from the airport's internal tram. You could check in, leave your bags, and take the tram back to the terminal. From there, RER will take you back to the city for the evening. Two things to be careful about: be sure to get the correct RER for your return trip. It's the RER B. We found to our dismay, however, that there were two variations of the RER B. We were on the wrong one and had to retrace our route back to the point where the routes diverge. Not fun while schlepping luggage. Second, be sure to book the Ibis that's actually at the airport. There are two listed as being in Roissy.

The Ibis is at Terminal 1 and there is a bus terminus right outside the door of the hotel. Bus 351 will take you to Place de la Nation and the 350 to Gare de l'est. You can buy tickets from the driver. The journey is less than an hour long.

Oopsy, Norma. The Ibis is at Terminal 3. There are about four Ibis hotels near the airport, but only the hotels at Terminal 3 are on the airport grounds, as well as the Sheraton inside Terminal 2. The others require a shuttle bus--which can fill up during rush times.

I have landed at T3 about 5 times. We walk from the terminal, across a heavily trafficked road and end up at T1 RER entrance. According to the Accor website (ibis is an Accor hotel) the Ibis is ".... ideally situated opposite Terminal 3 at the RER Roissy 1 exit."

PS. T3 is quite small and has no hotels

Good point on the RER B line -- it splits -- if you look around and you don't see a lot of luggage you may be on the wrong line and want to get off before the split. At every RER platform there is a large signboard that shows the stops of the next train. Be sure you are boarding one that is heading to CDG. This is not tricky or hard -- it is a mistake people only make if they are not aware that it is an issue. It must have been pretty frustrating to have to backtrack luggage and all.

Thanks, we were able to find a newer one called Citizen M, which I believe is right in the terminal. It has good reviews, but is very modern/ nontraditional . Will see how it goes.! Thanks on the Ibis tips too, we did check it out first.

janetravels44, sorry about your Hilton experience. We stayed there the night before our flight home (because we're in their frequent guest program) and enjoyed the room, the ease of getting to our terminal AND had one of the nicest meals we had whilst in Europe. It was pricey, but hey at an airport hotel that's a given.

kmaca, if your flight really does get in at 6, and you're in your hotel by 7 - 7:30, it's up to you whether to do the roundtrip train to Paris. It will make for a long night. Taxi wouldn't help.

We had a wonderful final evening in Paris after coming back from Avignon. You've gotten your lodging, so now we move on to activities. I can't tell, is this your first time in Paris? Paris in the evening is beautiful as so many things are lit up. I believe the Eiffel Tower lights up at 9 p.m., but someone will have the right answer if I'm wrong. Another option would be the Left Bank and the area around Notre Dame, which is lit up as well. There are lots of great restaurants in that area. You could even see if there is a concert at St. Chappelle.

Hi, We stayed at Citizen M on the 23rd of this month. It is alot of fun. The shower reminded us of Start Trek, felt like we were going to beam down to some new planet. The rooms are very clean and the bed was comfortable. Look around as you are walking from the airport to the Hotel, there were several rabbits running around. Hope you enjoy your trip.
