You can just use the official taxi line. Ignore any offers for taxis while you’re inside the airport or you will get scammed. Follows the signs for taxis. When you get in line, tell the employee you have 4 people. They will direct you to a minivan taxi that can accommodate your group. We did this with our family of 4 with lots of luggage. The taxi prices are a fixed amount depending on where your hotel is located (assuming it’s in central Paris): 53-58€.

The official taxi will be less expensive and easier.

go to the official taxi line; take the first van taxi available when it is your turn. It will cost you 53 to the right bank or 58 to the left. There is no more convenient car service and shuttles are a real waste of money and time with a group this size. don't respond to anyone offering a taxi in the airport just follow the signs in the floor to the taxi line.

We have been to Paris flying into CDG a couple of times.
We rolled our suitcases to the RER and took it into the city. No big deal. It depends on where your hotel is located. Ours was close to a METRO stop.

It costs 41 or so for 4 people to take the RER versus 53 or 58 for door to door service via cab. Then no lifting heavy suitcases up multiple flights of stairs etc etc and finding the hotel on foot.

And recently the RER has not been running some weekends. Easter Sunday after dropping someone at the airport (and thank good we took a cab TO the airport) I planned to take the RER back to the city. No RER -- instead a bus bypass to Stadt du France area and then the RER D into the city -- not the adventure someone just arriving with giant suitcases really wants to have. So check ahead if you plan to use the RER to make sure it is running -- there were no signs it was down until I literally got to the station at which point there were many signs directing us to Gate 2 at Terminal 2F for the buses.

The others are spot on - taxis are the way to go.

I have used Paris-Shuttle and Parishuttle. Both have worked fine but by the time you call the hotline and they tell you where to pick up your car, you could have aleady been half-way there.
