Looking for Apartment type places in Avignon

We're headed to Avignon next month.

I've been checking hotels in Avignon for 3 adults. In doing research, even some of the 4* places have varied reviews. Even the more expensive places have reviews that would give anyone pause.

Willing to spend USD$300 per night for 5 days and 4 nights in an Air B'n' B property. Thoughts?

Thanks.

Don't know about Air BnB's, but the star system is France refers to amenities offered, such as AC, etc, not how "upscale" a place might be.

The more reviews I read, the more I think I shouldn't read any reviews. Like you say, even the best places get their share of horrible reviews.

However, with Airbnb (or VRBO or any other similar platform) I think it's important to read the poor reviews. Are they complaining about something frivolous ("it was hot and their was no AC" even though the listing clearly doesn't show AC or "it was noisy at night with the windows open" even though a quick Google search would tell you there was a bar downstairs).

Or was there a legitimate complaint that wasn't resolved by the owner. So, the refrigerator wasn't cold. Did the owner respond when you called and sent someone to fix it. Great! Did the owner ignore your calls or blame you for breaking it. Run!

How the owner responds while your there plus how the owner responds to a poor review will tell you a lot about the property.

Hi dhammer53,
We have stayed at the Bristol Hotel in Avignon, and liked it very much. The staff was very helpful in printing some documents that we needed, it was in a great location and the room was stylish and comfy.
We also have stayed in an apartment in Avignon, because originally we thought we'd be 3 people, but ended up as two. And, I'm not sure I'd recommend it anyway. But, just looking online at booking.com, looks like there are nice apartments available.
We enjoyed our time in Avignon. Bon voyage!

Our family regularly uses a mix of both rentals and hotels. Like you we didn't love the options when we were researching Avignon hotels.

We settled on a great looking apartment through VRBO and could not have been happier with our decision. Awesome space, perfect location, relaxed, the option to cook, laundry, feeling a bit more immersed etc. It came at the perfect time in our trip when everyone was ready for a bit of privacy and a slower pace.

We find the reviews on VRBO to be a fairly accurate guide. Check the map to ensure that the location matches your needs and what might be nearby that will make your stay that much better (bakeries, groceries etc.).

I just did a quick search on AirBnB for a week in September, and it doesn't look like you'll need to pay anything like $300/night. I agree with the other comment about reading the bad reviews. Also, don't rule out something that is outside the walls. The place I stayed in 2018 isn't available next month or I'd have linked it for you.
