Looking for an air conditioned Parisian Hotel

Greetings. I have been to Paris many times but never in August. I have decided that I din’t want to risk not having A/C this time, which alas means I’ll need to find another hotel. Prefer Luxembourg Gardens area. Moderate price. Suggestions?

hey hey Laura
you’re saying August is that this month or next year 2020? what does moderate mean to you in euros, different meaning for all the folks here.
what are your dates?

You might want to check out Hotel Bonaparte very close to Luxembourg Gardens. We stayed there in 2013, but I don't remember whether they offered A.C.. We wanted a hotel with an elevator, and they do have a small one. It was in Rick's guidebook as a recommended mid price hotel. We enjoyed the charm of this hotel, but plan on having breakfast out as what they serve is meager.

Stayed here first few days of August this year. It wasn't bad. Price was good. Grocery store just around the corner. Very close to metro stop for getting around. A/C worked well, but seemed to have a bit of a musty smell if you ran it too long. We opened the windows during the day and ran it when we got back. It's just southwest of Luxembourg Gardens.

What is your budget? A good budget choice is Hotel Excelsior Latin on Rue Cujas. A good non-budget choice is Hotel Luxembourg Parc on Rue de Vaugirard.

An easy way to look for AC hotels is to use Booking.com to search: there is a filter for AC. Once you've found something you like, you can then check the hotel website to book directly, if they offer that option (can be cheaper, and if it's an independent hotel they will be grateful).

The way the weather is at the moment it's more important to ask if they will turn the heating on in August.

Funny- I’ve stayed in both Hotel Bonaparte and Hotel Excelsior Latin, mentioned in this thread! I remember the Excelsior Latin one having air-conditioning and being in a great location near Luxembourg Gardens. From there we were able to walk to lots of interesting sites, including the Pantheon, the Seine, and beyond. This hotel also had a memorable ice machine! The only one I’ve seen in our European travels that was accessible to guests. Can you tell we were there in a heat wave, for that to be a memory?😄

Hotel Bonaparte was also a pleasant place to stay. I stayed there twice, in the summer, and in February. I liked the location by Saint Sulpice church and fountain, and the Pierre Hermé across the street. That hotel had deep bathtubs which were memorable. I agree with the other poster who recommended seeking breakfast elsewhere...we did that at both hotels, preferring to find our own treats along the way. I think that the Bonaparte may be a little less expensive, but both places were pleasant to stay, in interesting neighborhoods.

Thanks for the responses! I should have said August 2020! And under 200 E, preferably less. Yes, of course I know about filters on hotel sites but appreciate individual opinions on this very helpful site (have taken every R. Steves France tours except, ironically, the Paris tour. Have always visited on our own).

We are now in Paris. It's in 70s and you don't need AC. We have AC in our airbnb home but never used it. Perfect weather.

We just came back from a week in Paris yesterday. It was the chilliest August we’ve ever spent in Paris. However I wouldn’t stay in Paris without air conditioning (or access to fans) in any July-August period. Who knows what August 2020 will being like. This mid August was quite the anomaly.

EDIT: Last year we stayed in a lovely boutique hotel very near Luxembourg Gardens and I would gladly stay there again, A La Villa Madame. They had great AC.
