Looking for Paris hotel with modern plumbing & a bit more space

This year we're looking for a Paris hotel room with a bit more space and a more modern bathroom, in a price range of roughly 150 - 200 Euros (say, ~ $180 - $250 USD at the current exchange rate).
Previously, we've always stayed in "quaint" Paris hotels, with the usual minuscule bathroom (the kind of lodging often recommended by some travel writers).

Not looking for an apartment.

Would appreciate any suggestions. Even just the name of a hotel chain whose properties generally fit the above profile,--that would be helpful.

Kent , look at Accor hotels - dozens of properties throughout Paris ( Ibis , Mercure , Novotel etc. ) I have used them throughout Europe and have never been disappointed . Also , since computer algorithms determine the price structure based on demand , sometimes even the more expensive properties can rent for ridiculously low prices .

Kent,

The only hotel that comes to mind at the moment is the Hotel Duquesne Eiffel, which is in the Rue Cler area. I didn't check their rates, but they have three different sizes of rooms and even the standard room might be an adequate size. I found the rooms to be very comfortable (with good plumbing), the staff were wonderful and they served a nice breakfast.

If looking at Accor hotels I would stick to the Mercure and Novotel range - some Ibises also have quite small rooms.

Some Ibis hotels are VERY budget..

I thought my bathroom at the Hotel Brighton was a good size( but the price is likely over your budget ) .. as was the one at Hotel Le Regent( this one located on Rue Dauphine is one of my favorites. .location etc) .. but you must book the deluxe rooms there,, the standards are much smaller.

I also stayed at the Hotel Royal in the 14th and the room was large with a nice very modern bathroom.. I liked the location too.. but once again..I stayed in a deluxe room there.. which are a bit bigger then the standards.. not sure of prices for your dates though.. I stayed there 5 years ago..

Based on your budget, I can recommend the Hotel Londres Eiffel in the 7th. We paid 200 euros per night for a room for 2 people about 2 years ago. The room had 2 twin beds, a wardrobe, a bench, and a table, and we could comfortably move around all that stuff. The bathroom was updated and very nice, though still small by American standards.

Two years ago we stayed at Hotel Aiglon, we were in a family room, but it had a fairly big bathroom, and I believe was around 200 euros in summer for that larger suite. Excellent breakfast too. In the Montparnesse area.

See my recent post recommending Citadines Apart-Hotels in Paris. Yes, a studio is an apartment but you could ignore the little kitchen and just enjoy the size of the rest of the room (and the decent-sized bathroom).

We were very happy with the Holiday Inn- Montmarte. Room actual size was good but admittedly not exceptional. If you get one of the rooms overlooking the courtyard, some of them have three big picture windows that made it seem even bigger. Bathroom was modern and a very comfortable size. Nice neighborhood setting on a street with a lot of shops and not too much of a walk to the metro.

Disclaimer- it's an old building retrofitted and not a cookie-cutter property so room size might vary a bit, and we might have gotten one of the better standard rooms because I'm an IHG Gold.

Pat, it sounds like you have stayed at the Hotel Diana. My husband and I are planning a trip to London and Paris in the fall. I briefly looked up the Hotel Diana and am I correct in assuming it is a hotel not a B&B? I saw that they offer a contintenal breakfast for an additional charge of 8 euros per person. Did you buy the breakfast? Was it worth 8 euros or would we be better off doing breakfast on our own? Thanks! Karen

I agree with Sarah in recommending Hotel Londres Eiffel. i stayed there in 2013 and really liked it . The room was a little bigger than ones I stayed in in other hotels, but I doubt you will find a really large room in that price range. Every place I have stayed had modern bathrooms, although small. They were big enough for me and I even do my laundry in the sink. :)

I really like the small beautique hotels right in the middle of the tourist areas so I don't really mind the small space . I consider it Europeon and a good trade off for the location.

If you do stay in Hotel londres Eiffel, be sure to eat at FL next door and Cafe Constant on the corner. this hotel is right across the street from a grocery -- great for needs and picnic supplies .

There's a question from Karen a couple of posts up, about the breakfast option in Paris hotels. I find that I get a better deal passing on the hotel $10 per person breakfast option, and instead going to the local corner boulangerie or bakery for a croissant and cafe au lait.
