Looking for a comfortable hotel in the Marais area

We are a couple in our 60's and want a reasonably priced hotel ($150-200 night) . We require a queen sized bed and an elevator for sure. We'll be going May 18-23, 5 nights next year. We thought about Montmartre but figure we'll be walking enough and dont want the extra hills required to navigate that area. Breakfast not necessary but would be nice if its good. Would also like a decent view. Thanks

I am assuming you mean US dollars, which at current rates is a budget of between 135€ and 180€. You will probably find a hotel for that price in Le Marais in May but it will probably not include breakfast and I am not feeling that you will get anything but a view of a courtyard or maybe a street. I am also a little concerned about the queen sized bed as it relates to the budget. You'll need a larger size room for a queen-size bed and large rooms in Le Marais tend to cost more than $200 per night in May. You may want to look at Grand Hôtel Malher. which has a room with a queen-size bed (request a superior double and specify a queen bed). People I know who stayed here paid about $230 per night for that room in May. I recently recommended Hotel Les Tournelles on Rue Turenne, which would be slightly above budget and the person recently let me know that it was a good choice. Hotel Caron on Rue Caron is a great choice IMO and it could be in budget. A lot of people like Hôtel Jeanne d'Arc on Rue Jarente and it should be in budget.

We stayed at the Hôtel Jeanne d’Arc 8 or 9 years ago. It was economical (for Paris) and conveniently located. No Air Conditioning and I don't remember if they had a lift. The hotel was renovated a few years ago. Website says it's a 3-star hotel.

For May 18-23 it appears to be in your price range: 140 EUR + tax per night w/o breakfast. Add 10 EUR for breakfast for two. But it is only a double bed and if I recall correctly, the room and bath are not up to American size standards. But it is in Paris.

Breakfast was "continental" but good and only 5 EUR pp even way back when we visit.

My husband just told me that I was unclear in my post and that not everyone knows what I mean when I say a lot of people like something or many people like something. So, I'll be clear now: it means that I know people who like whatever it is but I do not but am mentioning it because you might like it or it might meet your needs.

Hi from Wisconsin,
Last year we spent four nights at Le Roi de Sicile. It was a very nice place. A little high on the price for us, but worth it. We are in our later 60s (so there). No view. We sleep in our room. There is a room and ground floor that is quiet.
Nearby is our favorite boulangerie, at the T of Rue Sainte-Croix de Bretonnerie and Rue Vieille du Temple. Also there is a nice coffee shop with light meals at the Vogues, NE corner of that square.

Wayne, how did you get the best price for Roi De Sicile? Direct or on a booking site? Thanks, Al

For beds you need one that is at least 160 cm and you can often find out that by calling the hotel. A king size is about 180 -- the 140 is the typical double bed and it is too narrow for us. What I do when it is not clear the bed will be at least 'queen size' is get a twin room -- often larger beds are just two twins pushed together anyway -- but with two singles at least we each get enough room when in doubt. I can do fine with any size bed, but my husband can't and this is how I cope with that.
