Looking for a charming place to visit between Dijon and Metz

I am hoping to find a small lovely village and/or sort of middle-of-nowhere B&B between Dijon and Metz (Metz is in the Grand Est region, about an hour north of Nancy) for a one night stay at the end of September. Ideally a winery or place with an on site farm-to-table restaurant. I will have a car. I've already visited Dijon and Beaune and looking for something slightly north, but am not sure how to figure out from my maps/tour book.

I see these types of places all the time on TV5Monde, or in newspaper travel sections, but am not sure how to find in this area.

Would love recommendations, thank you!

I really enjoyed Nancy. It is a little Paris, IMO. Nancy also has a huge amount of Art Nouveau architecture. However, it doesn't break up your trip to Metz too well as it is fairly close to Metz. FYI Our trip was 10 years ago in September and we spent about 10 days there...some slow travel. At the time, September, it had the charm of Paris, but none of the crowds.

I haven't been there, but I've heard good things about Les Jardins Gourmands in Pesmes for a dinner. It's an hour or so east of Dijon.

A quick Internet search turned up Le Basterbou for sleeping. Might work. http://lebasterbou.fr
