Long layover at CDG: recommend Château de Chantilly?

I have a long layover at CDG this week: 9:30am - 4:50pm. I want to leave plenty of time to not rush getting to my departure gate for Malpensa, but I don’t need 7 1/2 hours - LOL!

Has anyone taken a taxi from CDG up to Château de Chantilly to spend a few hours? Is there a handy location to leave my large backpack at either the airport or the chateau?

How long have you stayed inside CDG? I’m reading that there’s some art exhibits, the usual shopping, etc. Although I read there’s nice lounge chairs in one area, this will be the time that I need to walk as much as possible to change my body over to European time zones.

Thanks for your advice!

Make sure to check Chantilly's website for hours and days of the week. We had really wanted to see the chateau. Got there, paid the parking and then found out they are not open on Tuesdays. I'm pretty sure I had checked for Monday, but I had not expected them to be closed on Tuesdays.

Jean, are you arriving from the US? Do you know which terminals you are flying into and out of?

If you look under the "at the Airport" heading on the CDG website, they have an amazing range of entertainment/cultural options throughout the terminals. Including a very large statue of a sleeping cat!

Jean -

From Terminal 2, in the CDGVAL station hall of Gare Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV, opposite the Sheraton Hotel. Operated by Bagages du Monde, it allows you to leave your luggage for a few hours or several days, with rates adapted to both size and duration. so if you wanted to leave your luggage at the airport for a few hours to explore Chateau Chantilly, you have the opportunity to do so.

Jeanm,

I am coming into 2E and leaving out of 2F. Yes, I am coming from Spokane to Salt Lake City to CDG.

Thank you, Lin C & RJean, for that helpful info! Not sure a sleeping statue will keep me awake - LOL!

Jules m, that would be frustrating to park and approach a locked chateau!

I see they have some pianos at various locations. I could easily wile away an hour playing one of them, but that tends to be very relaxing so not very conducive to waking myself out of a jet lag fog.

Any checked bag? Is the ongoing flight to Milan on the same ticket?

Hi Joe32f, yes, it’s all one ticket through Delta. I will have my Cotopaxi 35 & a crossbody purse. I don’t ever check luggage, but that will change during my Christmas Market trip later this year!
