Hello. We plan on visiting the Loire Valley on a trip this October. We arrive at CDG Saturday morning. I don't expect to be able to catch any of the direct trains from the airport, so we will likely take a taxi to Gare Montparnasse and take a train to Tours from there.
I would prefer not to rent a car if I do not have to. Therefore, I am leaning toward Tours as a base. Here is my basic plan:
Saturday - arrive in Tours late afternoon. Likely just dinner and a walk then rest.
Sunday - train to Amboise for morning market. Explore the town. Transfer to Chenonceau (how? Train from Amboise via St. Pierre?). Take a train back to Tours.
Monday - Visit Blois town and Chambord. What order is it best to do these if trying to do so using trains and buses? I am thinking go to Blois in the morning, then catch the 12:20 bus to Chambord (based on current schedule I found online). Bus back to Blois at 17:00. Train to Tours.
Tuesday - morning train to Onzain. Walk to Chaumont. When finished, take the train back to Tours. Explore Tours.
Wednesday - train to Bordeaux.
Any suggestions or recommendations on this plan or the logistics are much appreciated. Thank you
