Loire valley accommodation suggestions needed? (with a car)

We are trying to book accommodation in the Loire valley for June 2017, we have a car. Thus far we have been looking at using Amboise as a base. it seems about the right size town (eg: to look around and get evening meals etc) and is central to what we want to see. However, most of the accommodation doesn't have private parking ( eg: your car could be blocks away?) they often say 'parking is available nearby', or are way out of town. (" First world problem", I know)
It made me wonder, are there other towns in the general area, that we haven't considered, that might be just as suitable as a base for 4 nights? But with possibly better parking?

any suggestions appreciated.

I've stayed at the RS-recommended B&B La Chevalerie (look up accommodations near Amboise in the RS guidebook) and found it to be a delightful slice of heaven. While it is my ideal setting for a relaxing and charming home base, I suspect it is not for everybody. I can provide more details if you would like to know more.

Our tour stayed in Blois, at the Mercure. It was arguably the nicest hotel of our two weeks in France, and perfectly located. Laundromat was close, within walking distance. I really liked Blois, more than I thought I would from reading about it.

I agree with Celeste that Blois makes a great base, we stayed there also. I'm not familiar with the parking situation there but it wouldn't hurt to check out some places there. It's quite a bit bigger than Amboise but I think it has a good vibe and has good restaurants.

We recently stayed at a wonderful B&B in Amboise called Manoir de la Maison Blanche and there is parking for guests cars. It is located a few miles from the center of town so you will have to drive there. Parking in town was not a problem however. Check out Annick's place. I am sure that you will not be disappointed.

We stayed at a lovely hotel in Amboise with parking on site, and we could walk from it anywhere in town we wanted to go. It is Hotel Clos d' Amboise. It was a great base from which to explore Chambered, Chenonceau and others.

We recently stayed at a wonderful B&B (Chateau De Nazelles) located just a short 5 min. drive from Amboise in Nazelles-Negron. The Chateau overlooks Amboise and is stunning inside and out. If you want a feel of staying in a real Chateau, thus is it. Built in the early 1500's. Breakfast is excellent, owners very friending and they speak perfect English. But the location is absolutely fabulous.

My wife and I did a driving tour of France in 2015. At Amboise we stayed at the Château de Pray, Rue du Cadre, Amboise 37530
France. Beautifully maintained chateau with a very good breakfast and helpful service. It is associated onsite with a fantastic restaurant featuring the highest level of service and excellent food, if you wish to spring a few Euros extra for a special meal and dining event (truly an event). I suggest looking into both. It is located a just a couple of kilometers out of Amboise along the river near many of the wine caves.

I love the Loire, and when I go, I base myself out of Langeais - it's just west of Tours, which puts you right in the middle of many chateaux for the region. I have stayed several times at a local B&B (owned and run by 2 expat Brits, so English spoken). It's called Le Clos Rabelais - they have on site (and secured) parking, and do incredible breakfasts! Great service - here's a link to their site: http://langeais.co.uk/home.html . Their prices are very reasonable, too.

We stayed this year in June in the Loire region at B&B Escapade Amboisienne right in town. It was a little off-putting to read about the parking "nearby" but it turned out great. We parked a few blocks away at a FREE public parking lot and never moved our car for the entire three days (two nights). We had to wheel our luggage the few blocks, but we travel light. Once settled, we could walk everywhere in town: to the chateau, to Clos Lucie (Leonardo da Vinci's home) and to the pedestrian district with all of the restaurants. Rosie, the proprietress of Escapade doesn't speak much English but she aims to please - a real charmer, as is her dog Farah. Rosie is a wonderful cook, and she even boxes up breakfast leftovers so you can have for lunch. She also made a tasty pastry/mid-afternoon snack for us. There are only two ensuite units. Ours opened on to a great patio with table, chairs, lawn chairs, etc. So nice for a mid-afternoon break.
We have also stayed (a few years ago) in a Loire Valley B&B near Azay le Rideau and several other chateaux. It is a little pricier but lovely, and with a great English speaking hostess, Dolores. The name: Le Clos de Berengeries. Plenty of off-street parking.

I see that the Grand Hotel L'Abbaye de Beaugency is still in operation - It was a good base for 2 nights when we visited Chateaux many years ago. I recall private parking. And good food.
