Loire to the South of France...Stay in Nice after or?

Hello All!
Our tour ends in Nice. after breakfast of Friday the 14th of October. We are flying home out of Paris on Monday the 17th.
Originally thinking of going to Aix-En-Provence post tour...do you think it better to stay in Nice, or?
Thanks for any input/experience.
First time with Rick Steves tour...have visited Paris in the past.
Best,
Stacey

In 2019 we stayed in Nice post tour for a couple of days then took the train to Paris on Sunday morning for our flight home on Monday. You get a quick tour of Nice on Thursday and then the afternoon on your own before meeting up for the final meal. We don't regret sticking around and exploring the Cote d'Azur for a couple of days. We also met up each evening with others from the tour who stuck around. The train you'd be taking to Paris from Nice goes through Marseille so it's not like you're going out of your way if you choose Aix-en-Provence instead.

We also stayed in Nice after the tour. Lots of small villages to explore from Nice as well as a really nice Chagall Museum. That’s not counting how lovely Nice itself is and you probably won’t have a lot of time there with the tour. I was just in Aix-en-Provence this past June and loved every minute of our stay there. For me it’s a toss up; both cities are wonderful and I would suggest you read 2 or 3 tour books and see which one strikes your fancy. Both are lovely small(er) towns and both had pretty good airport possibilities. From Aix we flew out of Marseilles to Munich to connect to our non stop flight home. From Nice it was easy to connect through Charles de Gaulle. I have taken this tour and it’s a busy one! Maybe you’ll feel as if you’ll need a little down time instead of heading to another destination, another hotel? Busy aside, you’ll enjoy it. It’s a great experience.

I took that tour earlier this summer and you’re in for a treat! I wish I’d had more time to spend in Nice (I left the day the tour ended). Aix sounds lovely too so you can’t go wrong!

Nice has A LOT to offer plus on the train but a great Hop on/Hop Off bus to take you to Villefranche.

Nice has frequent train and bus service along the coast to other towns and areas. So easy. We spent two weeks in Nice on our last visit there and never ran out of things to do, or did many day trips .

We stayed an extra relaxing night along with several other tour members. We all enjoyed visiting Chagall & Matisse Museums. We also took the easy bus ride to Monaco for a self guided walking tour & celebratory lunch by the water. We took the train back to Nice. We did extra days in Paris pre tour. Enjoy this wonderful tour!

If you do stay in Nice, Antibes is only about 20 mins train ride from Nice-Ville train station and it has Musée Picasso.
