Loire chateaux experts

We have 4 days in Tours this June. My main focus is seeing Chateaux, so just wanted opinions on which ones to see.

No car, just plan to use trains and feet.

My tentative plans are day 1 (part travel day) exploring Tours.

Day 2, take the train ourselves to Chenonceau and see the castle and have lunch in town.

Day 3 a full day tour through Tourraine invasion. They basically just drop you at the sites.
Option 1. azay le rideau/ Villandry/cheverny/chambord
Option 2 azay le rideau/ Villandry/usse/langeais
Can’t decide which! Excited for the gardens at Villandry.

Day 4 take the train to Amboise and see the 3 castles there, and the city.

Or if we didn’t see chambord previously, it’s an option here.

Thanks for any incites, and recommendations in these towns.

That´s a lot of châteaux. It can become a giant blur, so I strongly recommend that if you are going to visit that many locations in just a few days, you familiarize yourself with the features and history of each location before you visit. Otherwise, keeping them separate in your mind becomes very difficult.

Tours - only stay in the area of Vieux Tours or Old Tours, roughly the area between Place Plumereau and Tours Centre, the train station. Other areas of Tours will not be of interest to tourists.

I would break the days down this way:

One day - Chenonceau, Chambord, Cheverny (east of Tours)

Another day - Villandry, Azay le Rideau (west of Tours)

Last day - Château Amboise, Clos Lucée, Château Gillard.

There are minivan tours departing from the Tours Office de Tourisme that make visiting these locations very easy. Ussé is not a particularly compelling visit in my view, but include Langeais if you can.

This is a lot to see in such a short period.
