Lodging Recommendations in Paris

Hello All,
My family of three will be traveling to Paris in March for one week. We would like to be in the 1st Arr/7th Arr which I read is an ideal place for first time visitors. A two bedroom in safe walking proximity to attractions would be wonderful. Places that you have stayed at and loved would be great. Thank you so much in advance for your input!

What is the budget in euros and I assume you are requesting two rooms?

You have not made clear whether you have a dream of a legal apartment rental, or whether you are prepared to pay for two nearby rooms in the same hotel. Short-term rentals are highly restricted in Paris, because of the damage they do to the local housing market. You have to be careful that you don't rent a room that gets audited after you paid for it and disappears just before you arrive. Internet rental platforms place the compliance burden on the owners, not on the rental platform.

I had no idea about short term rental restrictions. Thank you for pointing that out! I just assumed that AirBnb and Vrbo are safe platforms but may not be necessarily? How can one tell which ones are legal?
As for hotel rooms, I can do either one or two rooms. Thanks!

My budget would be no more than 650 Euros per night. Thanks!

Thank you all for the lodging recommendations!
Is it also a good idea to stay at an airport (CDG) hotel the night before departing back to the US? I have an early morning 10am flight and I am concerned that we may be too rushed. And is it best to take Uber/taxi/train to CDG? We are planning on getting our covid tests done at a pharmacy the day before our flight, but I am wondering if you are aware of any airport hotels offering covid antigen tests?

The Hotel des Deux-Iles on Ile St. Louis. Cross the river and you will be in the Marais -- cross it the other way and you'll be in The Latin Quarter. Walk to the end of the island, cross the bridge, and you'll be at the back of Notre Dame. The Metro is near enough that getting anywhere is not a problem. There are also several restaurants on the island.

I usually have a flight in the 10-1030 range and stay in Paris. I leave at 6A using a taxi. This last October I scheduled a pickup for 5:45 because I’d seen some reports here that things were a mess at CDG and to allow extra time. Traffic was extremely light, getting me there at about 6:20. Unfortunately the Delta desk didn’t open until 7, lol so I cooled me heels in line. I travel solo, so not the same as 3.

I downloaded the G7 taxi app and used it to order the airport taxi the night before.

There are pharmacies in the airport before you pass through security that do Covid testing but I would just have it done near your hotel the morning before you leave.

I don't know if this would meet your needs but I stayed at the Hotel Residence Des Arts in 2019. We had a room with a separate bedroom and a living room with a sofa bed. Very spacious and a great location near the Seine and Notre Dame.

I think to calm my nerves on the morning of departure we will stay at an airport hotel with shuttle service lol. This covid thing just adds a layer of uncertainty! Thank you!

If I were to stay at CDG to be in position for a transatlantic flight the next morning, I would avoid any hotel with shuttle service (which can be problematic) and insist upon a hotel at the airport located either at terminal 2 (the Sheraton), or somewhere along the free rail service, CDGVAL, such as the Novotel, Ibis, Citizen M, Mercure, or Pullman. A complete list is here:

These hotels are on the airport grounds and are not subject to any organization's work action of blocking the airport entrance.

So glad that I reached out on the forum to get solid advice! I just canceled the airport hotel I booked and will rebook another one from the easycdg website.
Merci!

It is extremely hard to book because the hotel (superior tourist class) is so small, but AFAIR the room on the top floor of Hotel Louvre Sainte Anne has three beds, and is quite a big room. New bathroom fixtures, double-paned glass, air conditioning. Not a "classic dump" at all, but a lovely gut renovation. Haven't been there in six or so years.

I haven't been there in 25 years, but I wonder if the Ile de France and partner nearby Gallion-Opera are still in business? They were classic old style places, but very cheap. I ask for a rear room in such places because of street noise. They may have been renovated with double-glass windows by now??

I'm in the stay at the airport your last night school, it appears that can be a bit controversial. Wherever you end up that last night, you must make sure you have strong reliable internet, because you'll be uploading documents to your airline's website for a long time. And it wouldn't hurt to have a friendly front desk that will help you by printing out your documents. I've stayed twice at the CDG Hilton and it's just fine, it's a 30 second walk to the shuttle train. Just be aware they don't start breakfast until 6, which is a little late.

Thank you for the links to the apartments! And good point about reliable internet!
