Lodging in the Dordogne

We are going to the Dordogne in September and I saw the post promoting La Tour de Cause, but unfortunately it's full for our dates. Since that blog was mixed with the Loire, I didn't see anything else specifically about lodging in the Dordogne. Does anyone know any place special they want to share?

Thank you!

Need a bit more info. How are you travelling--train, car? How long are you planning on staying in the area? The Dordogne is a large area. Anything specific you want to see/do?

We have twice booked in small villages with the man who runs this site: http://www.perfectionfortwo.com These are tiny villages reached by car but they are wonderful bases for the Dordogne and we have had excellent experience with the agent. We first rented from him 10 years ago and then again this past fall. The second time we had the two bedroom place in Cadouin and it was outstanding for two couples. Most of the places listed here are designed for a couple, perhaps two in some cases.

Hello Denise,

Thank for responding - we have passed through la Dordogne, but never stayed over. I would like to be in the area of Beynac, Domme, la Cave. However the Tour de la Cause was in Castelnaud la Chapelle, so anywhere in that general region I'm sure is fine. If you know the region well, you can let us know where your favorite village is. We would love to be in a situation like La Tour, as it is rooms with meal options. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you Jane - I did look at this site, and will check in directly with the man who runs it. We did want to be situated with other travellers to some extent, maybe a cluster of gites, so we'll see.

Patti, you might look at La Villa des Consuls in Sarlat-le-Canada. It's right in the old town, very picturesque and is like a cluster of Gites. It's well located in the Dordogne region and Sarlat is a treat in itself.
If you'd be interested in a more traditional B&B, take a look at Le Petit Versailles in Beynac. We've loved it when we've stayed there and Mme Fleury serves the best B&B breakfast I've ever come across.
