My family of 5 adults will be traveling to Europe for 3 weeks at the end of June and beginning of July. We will be spending 2 weeks in Switzerland and 1 week in France. We would like to break up our week in France between Vaison la Romaine and Nice. All of the hotels that are listed in the Rick Steve's book, and others that I have checked in Vaison la Romaine, are not available for the time we need. If we cannot stay in Vaison la Romaine then we are looking for a quaint or unique town to stay that offers cafes and some shopping within walking distance. I did not begin my search for places to stay in or near Nice so any suggestions for this area would also be appreciated! Thanks!
My daughter and I stayed in a lovely place on outskirts of Vaison a few years ago. It is called, Bastide La Combe. In Nice area we usually stay in Menton which is smaller rather than Nice itself.
In Nice you want to be on the closest street to the beach. Ideally your hotel would front on the Promenade des Anglais.
Will be crowded in July, but not as crowded, for lodging, as in August. But reserve now.
Not good to have a rental car in Nice.
I don't know if you have ever used Vrbo, but these first 2 are adorable.
2nd one has more bathrooms.
