Seeking suggestions for lodging in Lyon. Economy is an issue but would prioritize location.

It was 10 years ago, but I had a nice stay at the Hôtel du Théâtre right in the center. The only potential issue is that there's no elevator and you have to climb stairs to get to the lobby, then more stairs for the rooms. It's a great value: http://www.hotel-du-theatre.net/the_rates.php

We have stayed at Hotel La Residence several times. Very central and reasonable prices.
