lodging in 7th arrondissement lyon

Hi All, I'm looking for a place to stay in the 7th arrondissement in Lyon France. I'll be there one night July 10th to meet my daughter whole be finishing up school there. Can anyone recommend a nice affordable hotel or B&B in that area. Thanks for your answers. Regards, Pat

I'm hardly a Lyon expert, having only visited once about 8 years ago. But looking at an arrondissement map of Lyon, it seems the 7th is not near tourist attractions or transit hubs like train stations, so there may not be many hotels there. Lyon has great mass transit, so you can stay anywhere and get to the 7th easily.

I stayed at the Hotel du Theatre, and would do so again. The only potential problem is that there is no elevator and you need to climb several flights of stairs (even the lobby is up some stairs, then the rooms are up some more). http://www.hotel-du-theatre.net/index_en.php

Here are 5 available for your date in the 7th. We found Lyon very walk able and the metro and tram are also handy. Our daughter lived there for a few years for school and work, she loves Lyon. We visited for the light show a few years ago and stayed at Quality Inn Confluence in the 2nd, it was the only hotel that had a room available since we booked late and it was light festival week. From there it was an easy walk up to the 1st and Old Lyon, the 7th is across the river from where we stayed. The Quality Suites in the 7th for your night is $66 and gets a good rating on hotels.com

Thank you for your replies! I ended up booking Mama Shelter since it's close to my daughter. Do you have any recommendations for a place for us to go to dinner? Thanks, Pat

We ate at a really cool tartine place in Old Lyon, La Becquee. Neat place, inexpensive.
Brasserie George's was a nice but pricier restaurant. It was near Perrache, south of the station near the Rhone, if I recall correctly.
