lodging adjacent to metro lines + paris

I am attending a workshop in Paris the first week of october. Suggestions, please, for inexpensive lodging within a block or two walk from metro lines 4, 7, or 8. First or second floor, or elevator for higher floors. Something suitable for an old woman who is going on 40.

Brace yourself. You're about to be inundated.

I don't know where your workshop is. Of course, that would make a big difference in what I'd suggest. There are many hotels in the 7th near the Ecole Militaire and La Tour-Marbourg stations (the Rue Cler area, essentially). The RS guides have a lot of suggestions. The Hotel du Champ de Mars is a good lower priced alternative. We were there in May and the price was about 150 euros.

Be careful about lodgings that are genuinely "adjacent" to Metro lines. The tunnels are close to the surface, and if you're too close the trains will shake the building until late at night and start again before dawn.

Define 'inexpensive'. For me, it's under $100 a night. For you, it might be under $150-200 a night.

Do you want a hotel? Do you mind an airbnb? My husband and I stayed at a great one (and looks like the first week of Oct is still avail.). It was $90 can$ a night (so that's about 70 USD). It was on the 2nd floor. It was a room, not a whole apartment, but the hostess was super nice (I am hoping we can stay with her again). Very bright and cheerful place.

We got off at Cambronne stop (line 6) and she was a min walk - if that. Down the street about a block was access to lines 8 and 10 (la Motte Picquet Grenelle). About a 10-15 min walk to Eiffel Tower.

Thelma,

My daughter & I enjoyed our stay at Hotel Diana in June for €126/night.
The hotel has an elevator, comfortable beds & friendly/helpful staff 24/7.
The closest Metro stop is, 'Cluny- La Sorbonne', on line 10 which connects with lines 4 & 7.
There are also bus stops nearby.
Here is their website if you want more information:http://hotel-diana-paris.com/en/

I found this B&B for September, a 3-minute walk from the Line 8. You might see if she has availability or ask about something else offered by the agency. They've been very good to deal with.

It would be helpful to know where your workshop is - such as the nearest metro stop, since these 3 lines cover a lot of Paris.
