Locronan or Douarnenez?

I'll be driving through Brittany, and will have about 4 hours to stop in either Locronan or Douarnenez on my way from Brest down to Concarneau. Do you have a preference between Locronan and Douarnenez?

Or, should I not stop at all, because I'm heading to Concarneau? These are all lovely, seaside towns. Thanks!

I can recommend stopping in Locronan and four hours is plenty of time. We were there on a rainy Sunday morning and enjoyed poking around the village. Very pedestrian friendly. Walk down toward the harbor and see the little sailor's church. There are several bakeries, galleries and restaurants around the large town square. Church of St Ronan has amazing carvings and stained glass inside. We were headed to Concarneau also and our b&b host urged us to stop in Locronan, I'm so glad we did. Don't know Douarnenez so cannot compare.

Hi Laurie, in August we spent a week on the beach at Kerval, which is equidistant (about 8km) to Locronan and Douarnenez. And without a doubt visit Locronan. Although it is close, 8 km, it is not on the beach. Also check when you go as they have a market day. In August there was a night time market, which began at about 6 pm.

If it is a nice day, I would recommend visiting Menez Hom the view is incredible.

Both towns are worth seeing. If you have 4 hours, you could even have a look at both places. Douarnenez is a colourful fishermen town

I loved Locronan. A really nice small town. Because the building style is consistent, it's been used as a backdrop for many movies.
