What restaurants would anyone recommend in walking distance from 63 rue des Vinaigriers 75010 Paris?
We would like to experience local French cuisine at a somewhat reasonable price.
No recommendations, but there's about 20 restaurants within a two minute walk. Best suggestion I can make is wander around and see where people are eating
What do you consider:
1) Walking distance? 3 blocks, 6 blocks, 2 miles, etc
2) Somewhat reasonable price? Per person, including wine?
I would consider walking distance 3-4 blocks. Yes, with wine. Most importantly, authentic french cuisine.
our favorite for an amazing multi course tasting menu for 68 Euros is l'Initial which is about a mile and a half from where you are. A nice walk on a good night. the 4 metro gets you very close from there and there is probably a bus. We have eaten here half a dozen times and never had a disappointing meal. There is some choice on the meat course -- everything else is set although they will adapt to allergy issues. good value; good service; good food.
Oh, and yes - reasonably priced - not to fancy shmancy and not a greasy spoon.
Les Vinaigiers gets mostly excellent reviews, although I haven’t eaten there myself.
What is reasonably priced in Euros? Note that for less than 40 Euros you are likely to be eating airplane food.
Les Enfants Perdus is very nice.
I also agree with the recommendation for Les Vinaigriers.
And if you are tired of French food, la Taverne de Zhao serves stellar northern Chinese fare (from Shaanxi).
In general there are tons of restaurants in the immediate area: you will not starve.
And one more time (to be helpful) :O)
Kathryn, your group is 11 adults, a toddler and an infant. Are you thinking you're going to try to all eat together?
It may make a difference in recommendations if that's the intent, and some restaurants may be too small to accommodate you all?
That would be best, but understand if not able to accommodate all of us. :)
Ask Google Maps to show you restaurants in your area and, it will
I second Les Enfants Perdus and they might be able to accommodate 13 people. It's a great brunch spot with a set menu for brunch. I also second Les Vinaigriers. My children (ages 21 and 13 at the time) and I came upon it quite by accident when we were walking to the Ten Belles from the 9th arrondissement. We were only 3 people and they seated us for lunch without a hitch. It's excellent and very well priced and I think they could seat 13 but I do not recommend it for a toddler and infant. I never thought to find myself suggesting this but with as large of a group of adults and children as you have, perhaps try a boullon like Bouillon Julien which is only about a 10-minute walk away from Rue des Vinaigriers.
Edit: I forgot to mention Hotel du Nord on Quai de Jemmapes. That was actually our destination along with Ten Belles when we decided to try Les Vinaigriers. I still have not been but I think it might work for you.
Oh I missed the part about your group size.
Many restaurants require advance bookings and impose set menus for groups larger than 8. Would you be open to splitting tables? That would be more flexible - but I would still book ahead as much as possible.
