Livre Paris

Good morning, I am trying to figure out logistics to go to Livre Paris - is it worth going? On our intended itinerary we are headed from Paris to Rennes on March 21st by train. But I am a bit of a book nerd and am trying to figure out if it is worth a delayed departure. Also need to figure out what to do with our luggage - because we are staying in the Marais and departing from Gare Montparnasse. I haven't scheduled anything else for the day other than travel.

Thanks much, Laurie

What excites me about Livre Paris are the works of the éditeurs/publishers that you don’t often see in the Parisien bookstores, particularly from the francophone countries. If I were in Paris, I’d definitely go. This is actually living like a local (who loves literature) 🙂

Oh my goodness, talk about a dream! This is on my life list. I vote to go for it.

A related option near Rennes is the village of Bécherel, which is considered a "book town." It has many bookstores for a town of its size. Particularly if you read in French at all, this makes for a fun excursion!

I read in French and would totally go to this, were I in France! Also worth noting that the "pays à l'honneur" this year is India (they choose a different country to be the "featured country" every year) so if you are interested in learning more about Indian books and writers, it could also be interesting.

As for the luggage, Gare Montparnasse has luggage lockers, though if you are staying in a hotel I would just leave the luggage at the hotel and swing by again when it is time to leave.

Another--yes, and a shout out for Bécherel, too. It's just off the main road between Rennes and St. Malo.
