We are thinking of spending one night in Lisieux. Does anyone have recommendations for accommodations? Thank you.
We stayed at an amazing BNB in the region called La Ferme de l'Oudon. It was an actual farm and we got evening private access to their indoor pool. It's about 30 minutes from Lisieux but it certainly was a memorable place. Every morning they delivered breakfast and then we had dinner ordered to our room one evening. We didn't want to leave. And the animals are amazing. The horses were friendly. The ducks have a coiffe of feathers that make them look like they belong to the court of Louis XIV, and more.
I appreciate you sharing that. I’d hoped to stay in or very near town, but I’ll definitely check it out and give it some consideration. Thank you.
We stayed at Le Grand Hotel de l'Esperance when we spent a few days in Lisieux a couple of years ago. It was fine. Not outstanding but not terrible either.
That’s the one I was looking at due to location, but still checking on others. Thank you for sharing your honest opinion.
Book it. Or whatever other hotel you're considering.
Endless searching for the perfect hotel is a fool's errand. Just do it and move on.
Good advice👍.
Lisieux itself is not directly attractive, but the surrounding countryside is very charming. If you don't mind driving a bit you can find there good B&B's for reasonable prices. A search tool I much used in the past is the one of Gîtes-de-France. Most time good value for the money, never had a bad experience.
Thank you. I will look at that.
When I stayed 1 night about 7 years ago, this audio app from the tourist bureau was a nice way to do a self-guided walking tour. https://tourisme.lisieux-normandie.fr/en/see-and-do/heritage/visit-with-your-smartphone/
I was mostly interested in St Thérèse sites and I stayed at the lodging for pilgrims, Ermitage St Thérèse, run by the nuns. Simple en-suite private rooms, communal meals, so-so food. Bookable by email. https://www.therese-de-lisieux.catholique.fr/en/organiser-son-sejour/maisons-daccueil/
Thank you for this! I appreciate your info.
