Lines to Purchase Tickets to Eiffel Tower in the Late Afternoon

We are going to Paris during the first week of October. All tickets for the week are sold out at the Eiffel Tower of course! How long do you think the lines to purchase tickets there the day of, probably during the later afternoon or evening time. Also I saw the Eiffel Tower is open to 11pm, but didn't see whether or not they sold out of tickets for the day. For example, we plan to arrive to purchase tickets at 5 pm, but don't know whether or not the tickets will be "sold out" for the same day/evening tour. We also don't want to wait two hours for tickets either.

Hi Hetta, this is honestly a "it depends" situation. It might be a nice sunny day, or a weekend, or a holiday... you'll have to walk by and check out the lines.

You could also try a Behind the Scenes tour. We did a Get Your Guide tour (www.getyourguide.com) twice and everything turned out well. There's a 1 hour tour and then you skip the lines to get to the second floor. If you want to go to the top, there's a short line to buy an extra ($5) ticket.

We went last Thursday at 7:00 p.m and found only 35 or so in the walk up line. At the time, we were not planning on going up and had no tickets. So glad we walled! Not a bad walk up the 2 flights at all. When we left we were surprised to see the long line that formed. Take your chances like we did!

While it does depend on many things, I think the wait would be no more than 45 min to an hour at that time in October to buy your tickets. It's worth it! Have a great trip! :)
