Hello everyone.
My husband wants to see WWI battlefields and We will be driving from Lille to Somme. I am not too interested in battlefields, so can you recommemd other nearby places for me to go check out? I already found out about Amiens Cathedral. What and where else? Im OK with shopping, cafe, small galleries, a nice downtown. Thank you.

If you have no problem with visiting places seperate you can stay in Lille for shopping and visiting museums/galleries or make a trainride to Tournai just across the Belgian border. But I guess you want to go to places on the way from Lille to the Somme. The two main squares of Arras are lovely but must be combined with something else to have a well filled daytrip. Nearby town Lens houses an annexe of the Louvre museum. The district around the cathedral in Amiens is also nice for strolling around and there is the Jules Verne house to visit if that is of interest.
