Les Grands Buffets, Narbonne

Has anyone been to Les Grands Buffets in Narbonne? I read an article on the place about a year ago, and it has fascinated me ever since. We are generally NOT buffet fans (no to Vegas; no to cruise ships), but something in me said: "If anyone could do an amazing, over-the-top buffet and pull it off, it is folks in the South of France." Am I dreaming? Is it a tourist trap or is it worth doing just once (or maybe both)? Related, I've read articles that there is a squabble with the landlord and they might be moving, but I can't get a clear read on the situation. Will they still be there in April/May? Obviously I'm loathe to give over credit card information for a reservation if there's trouble...

They resigned their lease and will be there for you, until 2027 or so, per the local paper. A lot of people in Occitanie love this place. Newspapers are following the story and a lot of cities are hoping to be the new home of this restaurant. Bon appetit.

that's cool, Bets - 5 years' notice of leaving.... gives the landlord plenty of time, eh?

The landlord in this case is the metropolitan region of Narbonne which is renting out a public space. The restauranteur wants to build an adjacent hotel but can't, and the city was raising the rent. Evidently all ended well for the moment.
