Left Bank/Luxembourg hotel

We're planning a trip to Paris in September and I'm debating hotels. Still looking for that perfect hotel after many trips to Paris. Prefer the left bank, Luxembourg garden area, small, elegant quiet hotels with comfortable beds.

Looking at -

Hotel Baume - excellent reviews, great area - but so much less expensive than some of the others we are considering. Has anyone been there and is it really as nice as it seems?
Hotel Buci
Hotel des Grand Hommes - a bit out of our usual stomping grounds but well priced
Hotel Luxembourg Parc
Hotel Reclaimer

Has anyone stayed at these hotels and what are your thoughts?

Many thanks!!

We stayed at Hotel Baume for 4 nights in 2023. Nice hotel and nicely located, but I thought it was un peut cher - a bit dear.

We ended up having to stay an extra night in Paris, thanks to British Airlines’ flight cancellation and we found a nice alternative close to Place St Michel for well over 100 Euros less, it might have been the Hotel Royal St Michel on Rue Saint Severain - I am not sure.

For a 100 Euro plus a night savings, just think of all the better meals you can afford!

But if a more elegant hotel near the Luxembourg Gardens is where your dreams are, then sweet dreams.

We've stayed a couple of times at the Hotel des Grandes Hommes. It's across the street from the Pantheon, and a 5-6 min walk to the Luxembourg RER station. A small boutique hotel with charming, candy box rooms- very classic French decor, and attentive and helpful staff.

Many thanks to you both! It's nice to have recommendations from the forum, from "real" people - I'm never sure about Trip Advisor reviews and very much appreciate your comments.

In September I stayed at the Hotel Saint Christophe in the Latin quarter. Reasonably priced. Room small but how much time do you spend in it? The place was clean and the bed comfortable. Lovely front desk staff. Easy walk to Luxembourg Gardens.

We stayed at Hotel Luxembourg Parc in 2022 and it was very nice. However, their prices literally doubled in 2023 and it wasn’t worth it to us. Instead we stayed in Bonsoir Madame in 2023 and 2024 and really liked it. The location is quiet but convenient with some good restaurants and boulangeries in very close proximity.

I agree. We, too, stayed at the Luxembourg Park - probably in 2022, as well - and it was pricey but reasonable - now, I gasped. Liked it very m much but I think we can do better. Thank you for suggesting an alternative.

The Bonsai Madame is in the area we really like and looks lovely. I'm torn between making a refundable vs non refundable reservation - September is a long way away. May I ask how much in advance you booked?

We always book refundable because of some health issues that can impact our plans. I think we booked 4-6 months ahead.

We're now at the age where we should book refundable, as well (even though we like to think we're young - we aren't!) We will book now and not worry about it. Life is too short. Thank you again!!
