Leaving Paris CDG airport, where to drop off rental car.

A question. We are spending 23 days in Northern France. Flying into to Paris (CDG) renting a car then going to Normandy,Brittany,Burgundy and finishing in Alsace, Reims. I have a 12:55pm flight out on the 26th of September. What is the easiest way to return the car and catch the flight. Drop the car off the night before leaving and stay at an airport hotel or drop off the car in Reims and take the train in to the airport in the morning. I didn’t book any hotels or car rental yet. Any recommendations on convenient hotel locations or car rentals would be appreciated.

I think being in Paris the day before your flight is ideal -- whether that means returning the car to the airport the night or day before or returning it someplace else and taking a train to Paris or CDG.

I would come in the night before after dinner somewhere good on the road; then stay at a hotel AT the airport. We stay in the Novotel when we do this which is right at the RER CDGVAL station. It is comfortable and has a decent breakfast buffet.

Given your mid day flight, it would also make sense to return the car in Paris and spend the night in the city and take a cab or the train to the airport.

In the recent past we have stayed twice at the Best Western in Senlis the night before leaving. It is a nice little city about half an hour away from CDG. There is a great restaurant in town called Le Gril Des Barbares.

Since you are driving, we suggest staying in Airbnb's, which is what we do. We really can't recommend any hotels other than that BW.

If you are staying 23 days, have you looked at leasing instead of renting? You might check with AutoEurope. We dropped our lease car off near CDG (not where all the rental cars are) and were then shuttled to the terminal, kind of like a private service.

Safe travels!
