Leaving Paris by train for Switzerland - which Paris train station?

I can’t figure out which train station in Paris husband and I will need to choose to exit Paris to head to Zermatt, Switzerland. Does it matter?

We will come into Paris from Amsterdam to Gare du Nord station few days earlier and staying in the La Defense area. Gare du Nord is not a choice to exit Paris, although “Nord” is, but appears to be a different station.

I have downloaded the SBB app for the trip.

Thank you in advance for any and all help offered here.

You have no choice. Different stations serve different parts of the country and world. trains to Switzerland leave from Gare de Lyon.

Nord and Gare du Nord are the same station. Gare just means 'station'.

When planning train trips using the on line planner at SBB just pick "Paris" as origin, and the system will pick the best station for you.

There are numerous routes from Paris to Zermatt. Which one you choose will determine which station in Paris you'll use.

When you fill in the SBB app for Paris to Zermatt, you'll see your choices. Click on the trip you want and it will tell you which station.
