Leaving Paris at midnight

Hi everyone,

we will fly back home out of Paris (CDG) at 10:30pm end of August. Do you have any suggestion how to spend the day? I'm torn between checking out as late as possible, but that's usually around midday, so what to do with luggage etc until we go to the airport. Also, our trip back home will be at least 24hrs (to Australia), so having a shower before we leave (rather than in the hotel in the morning) would be so much nicer. Hence I am considering to book the hotel for another night, but to leave at around 6pm for the airport, however that feels like a waste of money. Has any of you been in a situation like this before and had a brilliant idea, or do you know a hotel that allows you to keep the room for a few hours longer (maybe pay for half a day)?

Many thanks :)

A 'day pass' at an airport lounge with shower facilities might be cheaper than a hotel, to get your pre-flight scrub. ( assuming your ticket class does not have that perk)

Your hotel should hold your bags, after check out. Whether there is a fee depends on the hotel.

If you can’t find an airport lounge, it looks like some hotels out there offer a day rate. Most are daytime hours but a few have an early evening option. I googled ‘day use hotels in Paris CDG’. Under US $100

If you wanted to squeeze in one more day of sightseeing, most hotels will let you store bags there the day you check out and get them later.

Just reserve your room for one extra day and check out at 5 PM on departure day. In the overall cost of a trip to France from Australia, the extra euros is incremental. Spend you last day enjoying Paris, return to your room, shower and bounce for the airport. No worries about luggage storage, where to shower, etc. which is priceless.

I have never been to a hotel that won't hold luggage. The only issue is security. Most hotels have a secure luggage room, some just put it in a corner. Obviously you don't want to leave valuables, computer bags etc unless it is in a secure luggage room.

Thanks so much everyone, I appreciate all the ideas, I will do some googling tonight, didn't think of the airport lounge option. But also the comment about the overall cost of the trip made me think, adding another night in the hotel will only be a small portion of the total cost :)

Many thanks again and happy travels everyone
