We are returning our car on a Sunday (no one open anywhere) to Nice Ville. I wonder how likely
vandalism, etc is there? Anyone know if there's a fenced area for returns? The rental folks
at Europe car couldn't even tell me.
We've picked up and dropped off at the airport, so I can't speak for sure...but you could use google maps to check if no one else has an idea. You might even be able to use the 3d/streetview...or at least zoom in.
The other thing - make sure to take photos all around the car when you drop it off, so if something were to happen afterwards, you'd have photo/video showing the condition you dropped it off in.
I'm not sure photos offer any protection if you drop off a rental car when the agency is closed. Aren't you responsible for any damage to the car at the time it is checked in?
How late are you returning? You can also return to the airport (until midnight) and take a bus/Uber into the city. The rental return for most agencies was in the multi-story garage off Avenue Thiers, just to the west of the station. The procedure had been to park and then drop off the keys/info in the secure box. Similarly, there should be another Europcar near the Promenade, near Avenue de Suede. If they are the same as Hertz/Sixt, they use Parking Ruhl to store the cars. You can also contact each office directly to find exact directions, vs the call centre.
Thanks for these replies. It appears that returns to the railway are common and like Gooster said, there are many
rental agencies at the station. I'll give it a go.
If it's a disaster, look for my complaint here in mid June......!!!!
