Leaving a week from Sunday passport

Me and my Fiance are supposed to be leaving a week from Sunday on our Honeymoon after getting married on Saturday. I have my passport but she has been waiting 14 weeks and we had paid for expedited service. We are down to the wire. We have called the passport service and they said there is nothing they can do for us as no appointments are available for walk in emergency service. Good vibes and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, this must be quite stressful for you both. No advice, but my best wishes and hopes this has a good conclusion.

There was a poster in a similar situation (trip at hand, passport not back) in August. If you can find that thread you may be able to send them a private message through the board to see how she resolved it.

We had a student with a similar situation several years ago. But he couldn’t find his passport. He called other states’ passport offices until he found one that could give him an emergency appointment. He flew from LA to Seattle and back on the day we were all flying just to walk in and get a passport.

Was also going to suggest call your congressperson. My understanding is that they have dedicated staff members who can help. Good luck!

I have no words of advice, as I live in Canada: but I send you good vibes from your Northern neighbour!
I hope you get to go on your honeymoon, and congratulations on your wedding!

If you are getting married a week from Sunday you'd better do more than call a congressman and cross your fingers. Find out where the closest in person government passport agency is and go there to explain your situation. IF its too far, locate an expediter agency who IS in a city with a Passport Government office and get them to resubmit her passport application.

You dont want to have this as your first fail in marriage. You want to start out as a hero!

I didnt realize the links I posted with info were not allowed in this forum. Im sorry.

Did she call 1-877-487-2778? That number is staffed and after she presses 1 for English (or 2 for Spanish, if applicable), she will get a person who will ask you some questions about her date of travel and her proof of planned travel (she'll need her record locator or other proof of a purchased ticket) and then the person who answers should find you a location that can see her, especially after she offers the proof that she has been waiting 14 weeks for a passport ordered with expedited service. The Norwalk/Stamford (CT) office usually has appointments available. I am assuming MA means Massachusetts. Good luck and congratulations on your upcoming marriage.

Thank you everyone for your positive vibes, congrats and advice. We have called the passport office numerous times and the only appointment we could get was in New Orleans on the Friday before our wedding and we live in Massachusetts. It wasn't an option unfortunately. We are really hoping our Congressman Keating can come through for us.

You may want to look into an alternate honeymoon destination. Charleston SC is Europe-ish and wonderful this time of year.

Maybe, incorporate New Orleans into your honeymoon and get an appointment for after the wedding. Then continue on to France and bring it full circle with a trip to “old” Orleans.

Skipsmagic, I wouldn’t stop with Keating. Call Ed Markey’s and Elizabeth Warren’s offices as well. You never know who has the best contact.

Success! My fiance's passport is arriving tonight by overnight mail. We are beyond excited for our honeymoon and first time in Europe. Thank you everyone for your good vibes and advice! What ended up getting it to happen was Karen at Congressman Keating's office. She is a superhero! Bon Voyage!

Nice. Maybe a small trinket from Paris to send to the office of Karen on your return. A surprise thank you gift.

Enjoy your trip, 31 days until my arrival there.

They were telling us a passport application can take up to 18 weeks, 12 via an expedited application. My family paid for an expedited service, as we were exactly 18.5 weeks away from travel. I don’t take it as an expedited service being last minute, as everything is uncertain during times like this (they do have emergency services if needed). Fortunately, my children received theirs within 2 weeks, and my spouse’s renewal ~6 weeks. I think it’s the luck of the draw.

Congratulations and I hope you have a lovely time in the City of Light!

hey skips
glad it all turned out for you, fiancée and honeymoon.
I totally agree with kerouac2 and mentioning about expediting a passport. had friends decide to book airfare to Europe, not doing “homework” then it all hits the fan, waiting to blame anybody but themselves.
thanks kerouac2.
skips, go have a fabulous time, enjoy the atmosphere (it gets contagious), you two probably plan next trip on your flight home.
