Le Train Bleu - Paris

First trip to Paris and Le Train Bleu has been on my "bucket list". However, the menu is quite $$$. The "bar menu" is doable. However, I wish to eat in the main dining room and not be forced to be in one of the lounges. Do you think that the restaurant allows you to order from the "bar menu" in the main dining area? Has anyone had this experience? Thanks.

It never hurts to write and ask, but the website seems to make a pretty clear distinction between the two. There's two rooms making up the restaurant OR there's several small lounges making up the bar area. There's a menu of the bar OR a menu of the restaurant. My guess is that they keep the menus and rooms separate. As @tammyle mentions, there is a third option, which is the breakfast menu, which is significantly cheaper.

Also, I know it is expensive, but take another look at Le Menu du Voyageur, on the restaurant's menu. EU53 for lamb, potatoes and dessert in that room just might be worth skimping the rest of the day...

What about eating there for lunch? We did. The experience is divine. The restaurant is devine, the architecture is devine and the service is stellar. It's cheaper. We were out the door for about $200.

I really doubt they allow you to order from the bar menu in the rest of the restaurant. I will tell you that we did eat there. It’s incredibly highly prized, and the food was bad. We have some French friends who told us we were getting ready to be ripped off and they were so right. My experience was the exact opposite of Sue’s. The food was bad and the service was nonexistent.

I suggest just going to the bar, getting a drink and then taking a nice slow walk back to the bathroom to look at the rest of the place

If you want an amazing room for cheap try the Bouillon Chartier in Montparnasse. For a more modest price than Train Bleu try the main room at Bofinger.
