Is Le Petit Train a good way to quickly become acquainted with Nice?

Unless you have walking problems, I'd say that walking is better way to experience the Promenade and the old town. They are key parts of the sightseeing, so you might as well get started with an up-close experience. You can take a free elevator up to the Castle Hill park and viewpoint. The tourist train follows a very basic route, that I'm sure you would grasp just from a map.
