Le Nord and Picardy

We have been to France and to all of its respective regions except the above.

Going to Netherlands and Belgium; then cross over into the Northeastern Region of this fabulous country.

Traveling by car; lots of time on our hands, would anybody have any suggestions? Amiens a must to see it's famous cathedral but Lille and the others???????

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

We recently stayed at a B&B, La Grange in Cuiry-les-Chaudardes. It is a beautiful property, beautifully furnished. We had a patio that looked over the garden to the fields and woods beyond. The owners are gracious and welcoming. We traveled with our 21 year old nephew, and they treated him like a little king. Dinner was excellent, including aperitifs, wine, and brandies. It is perhaps 45 minutes by car to Reims, but not sure. It is in a fairly rural area as I recall, and we were staying only the evening as we drove from Colmar to Rouen with a short stop in Reims, but if you are "in the neighborhood" you might consider it. The nephew rates that evening up there with Paris, Giverny, the Breton coast and MSM as highlights of our 3 week trip. We also stopped in Amiens briefly to see the cathedral. Safe travels.

As is so often the case, I would find it easier to send you various places if I had a clue of your likes and dislikes.

WWI?
WWII?
Modern architecture?
Polders?
Boat lifts?
Saxophones?
English/French wars?

Point me in the right direction and I will point you in the right direction.

Another great cathedral, quite distinctive, is at Laon, on a hilltop overlooking the countryside.
