We will be going to the 2018 Le Mans 24 hour race next June. We have our hotel in Tours and found train service from Tours to Le Mans during the day (and then the city tram from the Le Mans train station to the race track). My issue is getting back to Tours at night as the trains stop running (as far as I can tell) around 8pm. We would not be leaving the track until around 11pm.
I think there maybe extra train service (on top of the normally run TGV trains) during the race weekend but I cannot seem to find any information on that as the train websites only post schedules 90 days out and I cannot find historical schedules on-line to show me what trains ran during June 2017.
Does anyone know how late the trains run between Le Mans and Tours during the race weekend? Also, any other suggestions on how to get back home to Tours around 11pm? We did not want to drive into Le Mans on Saturday as we heard the traffic was horrible (but does anyone have experience with that--maybe it is not so bad)?
We have reserved a taxi, just in case, from Le Mans to Tours at 11:30pm on race day next June, we'd just rather take the train back if possible.
