I'm looking at flights with one stop from Washington D.C. to Nice, France. Are these layovers sufficient to change planes en route:
TAP, Lisbon 2 hrs 30 min in between flights
American Airlines, Madrid, 3 hrs, 45 min
United, Newark, 1 hr, 30 min
British Airlines, Heathrow 2:45
I would definitely avoid the Newark connection, for 2 reasons:
I wasn't even aware of a Newark-Nice flight: if there is one indeed, I suspect it is no more than 1x day or even not daily, so if you miss it, you lose vacation days. There are many more connections to Nice once you are in Europe.
On the way back, if you check luggage you'd have to pick it up in Newark. Not so if you transfer at a European airport.
