Layover in Paris

We have an overnight layover in Paris in September. Landing around 5:00pm and head back to the US around 3:00 the next day. Would like to get the most out of the short time we are there. Looking for hotel, dinner and breakfast suggestions. Would like to see a sight or two in Paris. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Dear lblanch40 we have stayed in Paris many times! Near the Louvre we have spent huge bucks on shoebox size rooms. Lately we have stayed at the CitizenM Hotel at the airport $99 regular price and $89 as a citizen patron. Then it is 10 EU each way into the city. You can see more about this travel at https://travelthesestones.com/2014/03/image-post-format/ "Imagine Paris"
Especially fun is Jamie and Claire experience at the Le Grande Colbert Restaurant but you have to watch the movie "Somethings Sotta Give" first. Enjoy the pastries and the especially the parks about 3 miles north of the Louvre.

Whatever you do, reserve your hotel now. September is very, very busy in Paris with trade fairs, Fashion week, etc. Some nights this city is sold out at both at the airport and in town.

I’d stay in city as you’ll
Want to go in for dinner and then you’d also have time in Moroni f for a nice walk along the Seine and maybe see outside of Louvre and Notre Dame . That would be four tickets ( two of you I assume ) at a cost of just over 40 euros for train tickets plus wasted time going back and forth twice .
I’d stay near the RER B line ( airport ) so any hotel near say St Michel or Luxembourg stations will work and both stations are in nice areas to wander around in -
You should
Plan on being at airport by 12 ish - so take a train around 11:15- 11:30 or so - for me that would leave a good 4 hours in morning to have a breakfast and a walk about .

Hotel des Grand Hommes is around corner from Luxembourg rer station , across from pantheon, and 1/2 block to Luxembourg gardens .

Hotel des Mines in same area a bit more budget hotel .

Near St Michels there’s tons of hotels and close to river - nice area - Hotel Eugenie is fine - if you have a bigger budget then Hotel Albe - smaller budget Hotel St Pierre ( small small rooms though ) - there’s tons more I haven’t stayed at but those two rer stations are where you should start looking - closer to river than farther - you could even take a cruise down Seine in evening - nice seeing bridges and monuments lit up from boat . No reservations needed for boat cruise
