Layover at CDG from flight to TGV

We arrive in Paris at 12:45 pm on a Sunday in June. Our current plan is to take the train to Avignon, pick up a rent car and drive to L'isle Sur La Sorgue.

Would a train leaving at 2:57 pm be manageable or is that too tight? I read somewhere that 3 hours is better but I've waited too long and that train is sold out. The next one isn't till almost 5 pm, and I'm worried we'll be too tired. Our flight is direct from DFW to CDG so there's not a flight connection to worry about. I appreciate my insight/experience.

Does this mean tomorrow?

If so, at this point just buy the ticket(s) when you get there. How late is the rental car place open?

You realize tomorrow is the last Sunday in June? I hope you mean July! No way would I risk getting the train with only 2 1/2 hours after a scheduled landing. I’m assuming you’re not checking any luggage. Being the height of tourist season, unforeseen delays in landing and going through immigration will easily derail (no pun intended) your ability to make that train. If the plane were to land on time, it could take a half hour to deplane and get to the concourse, then it’s a hike to wait at immigration and another walk to get to the rail station. Head to a restaurant after immigration, have a nice lunch and catch the later train. As an example, your flight (AA22?) arrived 36 minutes late today and over 2 hours late yesterday.

I was trying to be vague and accidentally outsmarted myself. Sunday, September 15, is the day in question, not tomorrow. Sorry about that!

I am presuming that you have checked, and that the car rental places at Avignon TGV station are open on Sundays?

P.s. I would be wary of driving after arriving from the U.S. and then waiting for the train and the train ride. It is probably safer for you all and everyone else on the road if you stay the night in Avignon and pick up the car Monday morning.

Rental car places in Avignon TGV are open Sundays, until 8 or 9 pm. It's a major car rental location. As for driving warnings : in principle I agree, but this is a 45 minute drive, so manageable in most circumstances.
