Layover 2 hours JFK Delta to Air France

Traveling Business Class with a hungry teen who must be fed before we board our overnight flight.
Hope to eat in Delta One lounge. Departure gate unknown. Is this feasible? Thx.

Been a while since I was through JFK, but Air France likely uses the same terminal as Delta (they are partners), so if you are on time, sure, you should have maybe 30-60 minutes in the lounge.

I'm not super familiar with JFK, but in May we flew ATL-JFK on Delta then JFK-CDG on Air France. We had to go through security again at JFK. It was crazy busy, and I was thankful we were able to use an expedited line because we were in Business. Our friend was in the regular line and we waited maybe another 30 minutes before she joined us. We had about five hours though. I don't think we'd have had time for the lounge with only two hours. I'd feed the teen before you leave!

Your scenario sounds like everything would have to go exactly right to be accomplished.
1. Flight in would need to arrive exactly on time
2. Getting off the plane would be quick ( helpful you will be in Business)
3. Lounge would need to be close to either the arriving or departing gate. Ideally the gates would be close, but how realistic is this if you might have to change terminals for international flight.( do a check on your airline app for where your flight numbers arrive and depart for the next few days)
4. Lounge would not be overcrowded. check the location in the airport after you determine where your flight gates usually are, though checking your flights now is no guarantee they will be in the same place for the future.

Thanks for your replies. Our backup plan will have be fast-food or ready made sandwiches somewhere before our departure gate. Sigh.

Are you using the same terminal for both flights? I ask because my daughter recently flew into JFK in Delta and she landed at Terminal 4. Air France uses Terminal 1. If your overnight flight is an Air France flight operated by Delta, then all will be in Terminal 4 but if the flight is operated by Air France, you will have to get to Terminal 1 and I do not think that you will have time to feed your hungry teen in the lounge.

Delta uses T4. Air France is at T1.

To get to T1, you have to go landside, take the Airtrain to T8 and then get a shuttle bus to T1 . (Jfk is undergoing serious contruction work including a new T1. It wont' be finished for years.) Then through TSA security again.

If your flight is acually operated by Delta you will stay in T4. If by Air France you will have to go to T1. But you should be able to enter the Air France lounge.

But two hours won't be enough to change terminals and go to the lounge to get something to eat.

They will feed you on the plane.

The D1 lounge has both a restaurant and a buffet thing you won’t probably have time for the restaurant, but you should be able to get something from the buffet

Keep in mind with D1 you could also just go to the sky club or the Virgin Atlantic clubhouse if those are closer to your gate. But the lounge is really nice.

If you do have to change terminals. there is a lounge you can use in terminal one. So I would go to that terminal and then the lounge

And trust me, I can change terminals and go to a lounge in two hours even at JFK - I’ve done it. You might only have about 20 minutes in the lounge, but that’s enough for a quick drink and a snack.

Unless it has changed since my last visit Air France has a much smaller lounge in Terminal 1. However, the food offerings and dining experience at thar time were exceptional. Deltas’ lounges in terminal 4 are much larger with a dedicated lounge exclusively for Delta One ticketed passengers. While two hours may be enough for making the transfer if a terminal change were required heading directly to the Air France lounge in T1 would be my choice over lingering in T4 for dining.

We were in the JFK Air France lounge in November. It’s now a two story lounge and had plenty of seating and to eat.
