I'm curious if anyone has flown via Norwegian Air specifically from LAX to CDG. There don't seem to be a lot of recent reviews for this route. We're looking at booking the premium cabin and I'd like to do it in the next couple weeks.... But would love to hear some feedback first. I'm most concerned with the timeliness of the flights as well as the overall condition of the "new" planes. I was planning on bringing snacks as even "good" airplane food is somewhat lacking.
Norwegian Air was reviewed in this article, http://www.latimes.com/travel/la-tr-budget-airlines-20160810-snap-story.html, posted in the Rick Steves News on his blog page. This reviewer thought they were rather good.
Bob, thanks so much, that was a great read. It also reinforced my decision to not use Iceland Air.
We've flown them from Orlando to Copenhagen and home from Oslo. Then we flew Norwegian from Orlando to London Gatwick and on to Rome--and home from London.
You understand that this is a budget airlines, and everything's optional--including food and drinks. We paid to check one bag, and we filled water bottles with instant tea after we went through security. We picnic'd going over and bought meals ($19) on the return flights.
This airline is growing only as fast as they can take on new Boeing 787 Dreamliners, and the planes are just magnificent.
The service could be more friendlier as the flight attendants are all business. There's been some talk that their flight crews are paid less and many of them are from Singapore, but we've found their crews to be diverse. We have had pilots on board that were native "English speaking",--not too old and not too young.
And would we fly them again? You bet. We badly need competition in the transAtlantic flights to keep all the legacy airlines' airfares reasonable. We were paying about half what most travelers have been paying. Norwegian Air Shuttle is a force to be reckoned with, and the other airlines know it.
We're flying Norwegian Air from LAX to CDG in early October. Article in LA Times was good so I also hope to post a good review here when we return! In October, we purchased "LowFare" tickets and upgraded to "LowFare+" so that we can each check a bag, reserve our seating and have a hot meal. A couple of weeks ago I called to upgrade to "Premium" but they would not refund the original upgrade.
Thanks everyone! I can't wit to hear how the trip goes in October!!
Checking in to let you know about our experience with Norwegian Air from LAX - CDG. We upgraded one level so that we could each check a bag, have a meal and reserve our seats in advance. Looking back, it would have been worth it to book the premium cabin. A hot meal was served each way and we didn't like either of them. Snacks served about one hour before landing were basic. We'll definitely bring more snacks next time. Hubby booked our seats in the exit row so we had lots of legroom. Flight attendants were polite, efficient and friendly. We noticed some folks (my hubby included) having trouble with their entertainment systems and the flight attendants had to reboot their systems a few times before they worked. Flight left on time from LAX but the return flight left 45 minutes late. But the return flight arrived at LAX 30 minutes early so it all worked out. Condition of the planes was good. Would we fly them again? You bet...we're already planning our next trip to England & Spain using Norwegian Air.
Thank you so much for you feedback. I'm glad to hear that you'd fly them again. We were planning on booking the premium cabin and it sounds like that is a good decision :) I can't wait!!!
