Lavender still there the first week of August?

Hi! I have booked a tour to see the beautiful lavender fields of Provence on August 7th (Sunday). Our tour itinerary is to take us from Avignon to Gordes, the Romanesque Senanque Abbey, the Ochre Path in Roussillon and the lavender fields from the Sault plateau.

I am fearful that the lavender will have been harvested by the time we get there! From what research I have done it sounds like everything may be gone. I'm assuming it varies from year to year, season to season, but if anyone has any knowledge of the current lavender harvest I would appreciate it!

Unfortunately it can be very hard to predict as it varies from year to year and when it's ready they'll harvest it. I tried to find something online with a 2016 harvesting status but couldn't find anything. One thing I noted was that the lavender festival in Sault is August 15th and that makes me think that they may possibly leave some fields for harvesting either during or after the festival, at least in that area which is on your itinerary. I hope you get lucky, keep your fingers crossed.

Can't say what August will be like, but currently in the Provence region there are fields of lavender, vibrant in colour and buzzing with bees.

The Sault region sits on a plateau on the Ventoux. It's at a higher altitude so the plants start and finish later then those in the valleys.
Bloom time should be mid July thru late August, so you should have no problem.
