Hello,
I am in Avignon and want to visit lavender fields this week. How do I find out where fields are in bloom now? Don’t want to drive to Gordes or neighboring towns if the fields are not in bloom. Any other things to be aware of will be greatly appreciated. First time in Provence!

At this time of year the fields around Valensole should be beautiful. This guide may help you decide where to go. I can tell you from personal experience that the area between the village of Valensole and Puimoisson has some gorgeous fields that bloom in late June. Route D56 had some particularly lovely fields; one photo that I took there has been my computer wallpaper for years.And if you look to the north, you’ll even see the toenails of the Alps.
You can also fit in a visit to Moustiers or drive around some beautiful but for some reason totally untouristed villages like Esparron de Verdon.
