We are planning a trip to France to see the Lavender Fields in mid-July. We are trying to decide where would be a good place to stay as a base - we will have a car and be driving ourselves. Thank you for your input.
Anywhere in or near the Luberon. L'Isle sur la Sorgue is a favorite of ours. But pick a small town or village, or a gite, for easiest parking.
This website will give you some idea of the best areas to see the lavender. I stayed in Roussillon, and took day drives from there - saw many lavender fields in that area. Loved coming back there after a day of touring. I also liked this website for specific driving routes. Both Lourmarin and L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue are also mentioned often on this forum as good places to base in that area of Provence.
We spent a lovely week based in Lourmarin. Many lavender fields nearby as well as other delightful towns, markets, food.
